Just doing a few enquiries...

My horse has been on speedibeet for eleven months, the other day I noticed mine was a bit iffy so he didn't have any for 24 hours, he was remarkably more chilled. Haven't fed him any for 3 or so days...

Today he was last one out in the fields for about an hour, expected to encounter a sweaty galloping lunatic who'd come in on two legs... he walked in on a loose rope... no signs at all he'd even been hooning before I got there...

He's always been a little more spooky when I've owned him (was on lease) but I assumed that was down to less work...

So, just wondering whether to try and keep him of the Speedibeet! I really didn't think it would effect horses due to the low sugar content!!
 
never heard of speedibeet causing fizz. It is unmollased so low sugar and high fibre so good for the gut. Who knows though, some horses are intollerant of different things. put him back on it for a few days and see what happens. was that the only thing you cut out of his diet. what do you mean that he was a bit 'iffy' ?
 
Sorry, I meant the Speedibeet was a bit Iffy... overnight something appeared to be growing on it... have never seen it do that before!
 
Sorry cant comment on the Iffy Speedibeet but can say, it sent my horse loopy. I tried normal sugarbeet first, then swapped to speedibeet as it had low sugar but no difference. Its a no no for my horse :D

had ours on normal sugar beet all last year and never once had correctly formed 'poo'! this year swapped onto speedi beet and they are all doing so well!! the whole point is that there is no molasses or sugar in it which sure has shown with ours!!

Sounds like it was fermenting in which case i would throw it away.

Just make enough for each meal as afterall Speedibeet only takes 10 mins to soak before you can feed your horse.

I feed my TB & WelshxTB Speedibeet & have no problems whatsoever.

If speedbeet isn't working for you try alfa beet i use it and its really good, doesn't just add fibre to there diet it ads condition too! also giving you the perfect solution of how to add condition in the cold, winter months but without the fizz often associated with cereal based feeds. :) hope this helps
