Any chance of repositioning the lights so that the picture is not affected when there is a web? I won't recommend anything to kill them as I will avoid harming any animal unless it absolutely necessary.

If you wipe the camera with any household product that contains / smells of lavender. There are two things that deter spiders - lavender and conkers. They hate it. Most products like Spider Stop will contain the oil / essence of one of these two.

Wants to start a "save the spider " facebook page :) well everyone seems to be doing it. He he he. as posted above can not wipe webs of regularly. I like spiders they are our friends and just can not kill one :) x

No chance in moving the camera.

The only lights are pillar lights 7 feet below the camera, the light you see is infra red thus not lit.
apart from one sensor light which comes on facing the gate 50 ft away for 3 mins

  • The spiders are climbing up the pole and using camera as a ground for the web. prior to the pole there is just the trees beside the gate post
  • we paid £ 450 to erect the pole and pay for the pole to be on the gate pillar
  • its purpose is to catch people parking in our car park
  • entering our premises
  • making sure someone does not come out footpath and through gates.
  • protect our premises vehicles and horses

:)

Would Vaseline around the area (not lens obviously) stop them from attaching their webs? Just a thought...

good idea will try that tonight ty

Would recommend an aerosol - Spiderex - we use it at work.
Other than that, regular housekeeping.

yup I am cleaning them off every day at the moment

So what is the quality like without the infra red on? Is it too dark? I'm a CCTV operator and most of our cameras don't use infra red and we use them 24 hours a day although they are big beasty cameras. We don't seem to have a problem with spiders webs.

Yes its a dark drive no lights. This is the set up they recomended for our situation, I think the trees beside it encourage the spiders to cross from three to camera. We can't turn the infra red off, the camera lights show up as red dots on the camera when you look up at it at night.

Sorry not much help
