So..........i went to Moreton yesterday to do the Novice Spillars Response.

I walked the course (which looked HUGE (3'3) but id been jumping the day before higher than this so i knew she was perfectly capable.

Warmed up for my dressage test, she did a fab test and we got 74.50%

!! I got a 9 for my free walk!! So was mega mega pleased with that.

I was first going into the jumping and i knew i could afford a pole down and still win it, if i had two poles id probably not get in the top 3.

Bloss was jumping brilliantly, really taking me into the fences. At fence 3 we had a bit of a wobbly moment as it was a large spread and so she had the back pole - my fault totally. She was really flying, came to the second to last (another large spread) and i saw my stride was totally out, panicked, flapped and she stopped. Totally my fault, i couldve kicked myself, came at it again and she flew over and straight over the last.

So got 8 faults and came 6th. Im still angry with myself now as i let her down so badly by riding like and idiot into that fence. We wouldve won and ive got to admit i did cry (feeling emotional, time of the month and all that!) - i just cant get over how badly i let her down. Shes never jumped so fluently with me before and i just messed it all up

So ive entered the Spillars at Sparsholt on 8th October and i just hope i dont mess things up there too.....

Wow, nice dr score! Don't worry about the jumping, the pressure probably got to you, I bet if you'd been jumping the same course as just a sj competition you would have been fine. Could you maybe bring yourself to do some trailblaizers or BSJA on a ticket?! Just so you get to do a few more courses and are more in the habit of it?

no piccies as mum hasnt got a camera (hers broke!) and there was no photographer there.

Spillars Response are 15 comptitions around the country run by BD (have to be a member or get a ticket) and you do a dressage test and then a jumping course, i can only do the novice as got too many points to do the prelim. So for prelim you do a prelim test and 2'9-3ft jumping, then Novice test 3' - 3'3 jumping and elementary 3'3-3'6 jumping (which il be doing next year as will be out of points for the novice). 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each competition at each level qualify for the Winter Dressage Championships in Solihul next april.

What a fantastic score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Such a shame about the Sjing - but hun, you just have to do more!

I was the same when i was eventing, and struggling with my SJing - I would be in the top 3 after the first phase and end up balling up sjing - letting my pony down

Just need to practise!

Go and find some unaffiliated before now and Sparshot! or put up 5 fences up at home - a double down one side a single the other and two in the middle on a angle so you can jump in a figure of eight - this really helps to keep you in a rhythm!

I am very jealous of your dressage score!!!!

i was well chuffed with my 9!!! she went really really welll tho, couldnt have done it anybetter to be honest!!

Im doing a local CT on sunday but its only 3ft. Got a jump lesson saturday and going to stick up a couple of spreads in the school tomorrow evening. Got lots of unaffliated SJ planned now too - im getting into this business!!!
