I fed it to my mare last winter, but had to stop as she was covered in protein lumps (more haylage related than hard feed, but couldn't stop the haylage!).
It didn't really make a difference to her energy levels, as nothing does, but did make her nice and shiny
As throughout the summer I have just had my boy on topspec feed balancer and Alpha Oil.. I wont come off of the Top Spec but not sure if the Alpha Oil will be too much with it, hmm..
I have fed mine the mix sept/oct last year and this. Wont feed them any earlier as they make him fat, but when the grass is subsiding, he feels an dlooks really well on them. I feed with Topspec and Alfa Lite
i think im going to try these too starting fromt his weekend when i visit the tack shop, can we share our progress reports pretty please? im intrigued as i too want a bit more oompg under the engine-----but without the lumps n bumps mentioned above!
I feed the slow release energy cubes to one of mine- have fed them for the last 2 years- they are really good- he does well on them, I feed less than the recommended amount as he's a good doer and just use a vit/min supplement. Mixes and normal competition feeds can go to his head but these really seem to provide controlled energy, which is great for dressage!...
i feed the mix, and it has done my mare well...although i feed well under the daily amount , she has about 3/4 of a scoop morning and night with hi-fi lite
I have used this for just over a week, as he was slightly lazy and I wanted more from him and didn't want to keep kicking him on,have I noticed a different absolutely yes, and so have many others especially when schooling. He has under the required amount and seems very well on it and it is no more expensive than anything else that I wood use.
I have just bought a bag of the mix as Thelly seems to have no energy when she's competing, I'm feeding it with Hi Fi cubes, Speedibeet and Hi Fi lite as from tomorrow in the hope that she gets a bit more energetic, but am worried it may make her naughty at home where she seems to have plenty of unwanted energy! So will watch this post to see what everyone elses views are in using it too.
My horse was on the cubes when I got him four years ago and I've used it ever since, with Hi Fi good doer in summer and Hi Fi regular and speedibeet in winter. I think its a brilliant product, his temperament is consistent and he looks fab.
Great, I cannot wait to see and feel the results. I may come off of the Alpha Oil then and swap it for regular hifi or a chaff.
My horse has recently started to behave himself after me knuckling down and schooling more but has lost some of the energy/spark he had when he was a little terror so need him to perk up a little and find a compromise - this could be it! We have a busy winter ahead with mixed activities so cannot wait!
We had a pony tie up after he'd been on the slow release cubes for a month or so, didn't think it was related to the feed but then realised that a friend's pony had been on the same same feed when he tied up. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with the feed and these 2 cases are probably unrelated but just make sure your horse's workload is high enough to warrant this feed.
I think it's really good. We have an idle pony and were advised to feed it for "oomph". Does that fine without sending him loopy. We only give give him a little bit about 1/4 round scoop a day but that's all he needs. With D&H Fibergy chaff. Gives him just enough to keep him going all day at a show.
I feed Spillers SR nuts for my lazy warmblood mare. She can't have anything too cereal based due to lami issues, but the SR nuts do the job brilliantly with no nasty side effects as they are pretty low starch/sugar.
I feed with Benevit vit/min supplemnet as I don't feed the full recommended quantity.
i use the cube for my mare - she gets a little anxious and whilst she was on the spillers high fibre cubes i just couldnt keep the weight on her. This seems to have done the trick - i noticed the difference in just a few days. i also feed her on recommendation from spillers the new fibre conditioning mix - used to use alf alfa so will be interesting to see how she goes. Hope she is being exercised enough - ie robin hoods post - she has 3/4 x lunging a week with two or 3 rides (about an hour)with a day off.also on so kalm and farriers formula with a handful of sugar beet (has better food than me!)
