Just wondering what people's thoughts are on the product. I'm looking to put my old boy on it has he's starting to drop weight, has anyone had a positive result from feeding this.

I put my almost 17 year old Connie on it last year after he had a tooth extraction. He was having trouble eating anything else and as he liked it so much I left him on it and swapped my other pony on to it as well. I mix it with Redigrass and a mug of linseed and looks very well on it.

I have three on it (two 19yr old and a 15yr old) one is very fussy and she always now clears her bowl, they’ve been on it just over a year and absolutely love it, smells lovely and apple-y, I do it with warm water in the winter and is ready to serve pretty quick.

They all seem to love it. Fatty had a bag after his choke. Thought he’d won the lottery probably! He’s on a mug of grass nuts soaked now for supplements.

Thank You for the replies, my old boy is 26 years old he is currently having Allen and page care and gain ( been on it 4 months) but even feeding him the recommended amount he's still not gaining weight plus it is hard to get hold of where I live. It makes it harder to pick a suitable feed due to him been prone to laminitis in the past.

My Connie is an ex laminitic and he’s had no issues with switching to the Senior mash, if anything he’s looking better than he was before but I’m adding the linseed to make sure he stays at an ideal weight. The mash is a great carrier for supplements and my other pony who has EMS has had no issues with it at all.

Give it a go, for the sake of a bag of feed you won’t know until you try it.

Lots of people I know find super mash excellent but my elderly Shetland doesn't like it! He did well on it initially but them went off it completely. He likes the A&P Care and Gain but, like you say, hard to get hold of so I'm back to fast Fibre with added linseed and Sugar beet,

I found Cushcare much better than Care & Gain for keeping my oldie's weight on. I didn't find Super Mash to be a good replacement on its own, but she had it as well as her Cushcare.

Cushcare is also an excellent feed, my late boy (33yrs old) was on it for years and he looked amazing. The others would always be desperate to lick his bowl, so much have been tasty.

My mare (rising 27) adores the Spillers senior super mash. I started her on it a couple of years ago when she was looking poor coming out of winter. She also has a splash of linseed oil to help keep her weight on.
