He all. I wondered if anyone had any experience of spinal arthritis, sacriolliac disease? I have a pony who has been pretty lame for weeks now. He is in bute but not showing any signs of improvement. It's hard to describe how he walks - he lifts his hind legs in walk and hesitates before his hooves touch the ground. Like he lifts the hoof, moves it forward as if he is taking a step, stops for a second or two then places it down. He also seems to be stretching his hind legs forward more that normal in walk. Also if pressure is put on his spine directly above his hips he lifts the hind leg in that side and holds it until the pressure has been released. Any thoughts/ ideas?

How was the arthritis diagnosed? Steroids can help but from what you are saying this sounds like it has come on quickly - SI problems in mine took a while of 'not quite right' before diagnosis.

Sounds like, if it is not resolved with a few days of Bute and rest, the he needs a trip to the horsepital for X rays, scans, possible steroid injection or whatever else the investigations throw up.
