I had another follow up with my surgeon last month and he gave me the go ahead to ride again! I still may need more surgery to reinforce the metalwork in my spine, and I’m absolutely not allowed to have any more physio on my back or try to bend like the physios told me to!! But I’ve been back in for 3 weeks, hacking and schooling 🥰

I'm so pleased for you! I'm still very hesitant to ride - the wind has to be in the right direction, the moon in the right phase, and Blue has to come to her stable door at the sight of her saddle - but I'm back to hacking, albeit only in walk and trot, and only in company.

I've found riding really good for my spine, so fingers crossed it does the same for you.

I’m still getting the nervous butterflies in my tummy every time I get on, but Tarka’s been a saint. I said I wouldn’t ride in anything over around 27-28mph gusts, but today took him in the school in 31-32mph gusts. I lunged him for 10 minutes in walk and trot working up and down the whole school so he saw every possibly flappy leaf, then got on and had a lovely 20 minute ridden session in walk trot and canter! I actually signed up for Lucinda Green’s Ready4Trouble facebook challenge a few weeks ago and find that’s helped me relax, so worth the £77 it cost for the 2 weeks!

It's lovely to hear you are both back in the saddle! I'd love to ride again, but don't know if it would happen. Plus I'd have to buy a non wonky one that can be ridden! Wish you both many happy hacks

Hopefully you can find a non wonky horse to ride. Maybe a friend has one? I’ve had so many kind offers of riding other people’s horses to get my confidence back 🥰
