We went to look at a 13 year old dog today in a rehoming center. He is very active and cheerful in himself but has a lump on his foreleg and thorax. The vet report shows some age-related arthritis of the hips, very slight deafness and a slightly fibrous feeling lump on his leg and a soft mass, feels like a lipoma on his thorax. Cytology shows it to be a spindyl-cell tumour on his leg. Neither lump are in a place suitable for operating on. I will talk to a vet but I wonder if anyone else has experience of these or advice - if they are malignant or not is non-surgical treatment available, what is the cost, how much will it restrict his life span? OH is a little worried as I always seem to bring home animals that have medical problems - the last rabbit cost £100s

On the plus side he is a friendly. active dog that gets on with children and cats, likes walks, playing etc, smooth coated and not too big - and who needs a home
