I noticed this morning that my youngster has a splint forming. I am currently in the process of preparing to back him so he's worked mostly in walk with some trotting on the long lines (grass and sand school)

He isn't lame and the splint is forming towards the bottom of where the splint bone is so not near a joint.

Is it better to just rest him now and try to back him again once the splint has settled or continue now with the process unless he goes lame?

i think if it was me then i would rest him until it settles. good luck with him and i know how frustrating it can be i have started and stopped my 3 yr old twice due to illness and now have decided we are not going to mention the words backing or riding to her as it just jinkses her
