Splint on hind leg ?

Horse just arrived from Cavan, 3 year old ID, was graded as class 1 this year. Bit perplexed (me!) But not bothering the horse at all. Feels quite hard ? It's on the outside. Not lame or anything. Could it be a splint?

Seems too high for a splint to me, I'd want that looked at.

My pony had splints on the outside of both hind legs , caused no problems but were smaller and lower down.
Could it be a kick injury.

My mare has similar on one of her hinds, I would hazard a kick injury as that's what mine is; she kicked herself when having a strop. It's never really affected her and her way of going but we are older and not got many goals in terms of what we do so you may want to investigate to be sure it's not going to cause issue in the future.
