my horse who is a shire x and though 8 years old only been backed for 7 months i have just started schooling her as she wasnt keen on the school so have left it a while anyway only been working in the school for a week and she has got a split but its on the outside right by the sepensory ligament and quite big i wondered if anyone else had experienced this and what the outcome was thanks

Usually a splint will make the horse lame at first until it hardens - then it is generally just a cosmetic fault.
Is she lame?
Then usually, if you avoid working her on hard ground & trotting too much on the road it shouldn't cause anymore problems.
