Checking my horse's legs as usual after a days turn out, I noticed a swelling on the inside of his near hind. It is hard, almost bone-like and the skin isnt broken at all.
If I didnt know better I would say it was a splint.
My horse is 13 and was diagnosed with spavin this year. He has done light hacking and very occasional easy work in the school for the last 6 months up until 4 weeks ago when I decided just to plod round at weekends due to the weather. He has quite clean legs otherwise despite an eventing career and no other splints.
I understand splints can sometimes appear when work loads change, but I thought it sounded unlikely that this is what it is....anyone any ideas???
PS no lameness at all.
