Splint

Hi my daughters pony has a splint I didn't notice until recently I think it must of been there a while. It's hard has no heat and doesn't hurt him he has not been lame. My daughter has been hacking him out as usual. Is it safe to continue as I assume it's an old injury now??

When I say a while a mean anywhere between 3 weeks and 2 months ish

I would say best to get the vet to check just in case you end up doing any damage.

Thank you I phoned the vet first thing this morning and he said if there's no pain and not lame to carry on. Was quite surprised he didn't think he needed to see it.

If the splint is hard and cold then it has stabilized and you should be fine. Soft or hot splints or where the horse is lame are another issue.
