over past 12 mths my horse has come up with bump on each inside foreleg which have been led to believe are splints. no lameness or heat. he's mainly ridden in field and hacked - hardly trot on roads. wondering if some smb i have would help at all to relieve concussiveness of hard ground?! thanks

Any brushing boot would be sufficient to prevent the brushing injury that causes splints, but to be honest there is no boot on the market or invented for that matter than will prevent a horse from not getting a splint from concussion from the ground or from forces placed on a limb due to poor confirmation for example. In the same vein it would be impossible to prevent a horse from breaking a leg by application of a boot.

If you are willing to pay in the £30/£40 range then I would recommend the premier equine range of boots as they have airflow holes in them. Latest research suggests that a lot of tendon breakdown injuries are caused by tendons being overheated due to the weight of material and the type of material the boots are made of and airflows in the boots help air circulate to prevent the tendons from overheating. I have a set of airflow boots and would recommend Premier Equines range.
