hi.

had the chiro out last night and she said my horse has a splint on his hind leg. he's been off with a pelvic injury/undiagnosed hind lameness and i've never seen it before plus he's been looked at to death by vets and physios etc and no one has ever mentioned it. he's also been scanned and x-rayed to death with nothing showing in that splint area. could the chiro be mistaken? and if not will it cause him a problem?

May have just formed so not turned up on previous x-rays? Depends how long ago you had him x-rayed. That may explain some lameness. OR it may have been old and fully formed and you've just not noticed, in which case vets etc would not mention it as fully formed splints do not generally cause any problems whatsoever. My pony has two wopping great big splints on her hind legs but they were formed as a 2-3 year old and have never caused her problems since. She hunts, jumps, hacks etc, totally sound.
