Does anyone have any experience of splints in a 2y-o?

Would you be concerned that a 2y-o potential dressage horse had splints? They are a couple of inches below the knee on both sides, she has not been lame on them and they are not hot. Will speak to vet about them too but looking for all opinions and experience. Thank you

Mine threw splints as a 2yo, sometimes they form as horse grows and then reabsorb (mine did).

I wouldn't worry too much, have a good farrier check the foot balance and the way the horse is moving, just to be on safe side. Not much you can really do otherwise.

lemon juice rubbed (hard) in (fresh lemon) 3 times a day for 10 days but must be when the splint is fresh then rub cream in for a further 10 days also 3 times a day

There seems to be more and more youngsters around with splints. Perhaps it's something to do with getting too much hard feed, who knows. I've got a couple of friends with ID youngsters both got splints at 2 and both still doing well in showing classes and show no sign of unsoundness. Vet would check soundness and probably freeschool the horse to check it's wind (unless) it lunges. Depends what type of vetting you go for but definitely best to let your vet have a look before you part with any money.
