Feeling really depressed, Rosie went intermittently lame in August, with a splint on her hind leg (Its just below her hock) rested her on advice of vets, after two weeks rest she was still lame plus also lame in her front left leg, vet thought that it might be her back and last back person might have trapped a nerve, got a different back person out, who said there was nowt wrong with her back and he thought it was her left fore that was causing the diagnol lameness ... Vet came back out and referred her to Willersley as he failed to get x rays due to mares extreme needle shyness so couldn't sedate her. Rosie went to Willersley and saw Sven, he got excellant x rays and diagnosed a fracture of the splint in front leg, had six weeks boxrest, hind splint he said nothing to worry about, went back up last Friday, had more x rays, mare sounf in front now, but still showing right hind lameness, more pronounced on right rein, more x rays done, fracture had healed and Sven don't think it will cause anymore trouble, however the right hind splint hadn't altered much at all from previous x ray still quite porous, she now going to be field rested til January, however as the splint is not near any tendons or ligaments or joints, I don't understand while she is still lame, cos basically she been lame since August,

Sven did say he can't say for definate if the splint his causing the lameness and to bring her back in January for more tests, but does anyone know what could cause this ?

Sometimes I find we can try and over analyse things. Splints can be tricky beggers, I know my horse a few years back took 4/5 months to come right after throwing a splint.
Sounds like you have done the right things so far so I would try to not think about it too much, give the horse a holiday until January and then take it from there. The likelihood is that whatever is niggling her will have sorted itself out by then anyway.
