When I bought my horse 2 years ago he had a formed splint on the inside of his off fore. Since then it has never changed in any way until I brought him in last week when it appears to have shrunk significantly in size overnight

I am baffled as have never seen a splint shrink. It is not sore and feels exactly the same as before (except smaller obviously!)

Any Ideas?

I had a 12 hh pony with large splints on both front legs, after 2 years during which he had never been lame they both reduced until after 6 months they were completely gone. An old chap in the local village said it was all the road work the pony did!! He was a driving pony and used to do 5 miles + nearly every day.

they can reabsorb apparently-have heard in the old days the military used to tap them with hammers to make them disappear!

they can reabsorb and also when they have fully formed, the inflamation will go down too. so it's possible that it could have finished forming.
