Splints?

Whyyy does my pony keep getting them?

She gets them really frequently - I'm VERY careful with the ground and don't jump more than once a week (on a surface) and only up to about 3 foot atm so I don't understand it.

She got 1 just in the field today and its not small either.

What can I do to help prevent them?

She's a hackney x and rising 7 is this helps..

Thats odd, hackneys normally have great legs, strength/toughness wise, bred into them. Don't want to question but are they difinatly splints?

Thats fine, I should think so. They're on her splint bone, small hard lumps. This 1 had a bit of heat in it but usually they're just cold and she's not lame on it.

Then they just seen to shrink slowly in time.
Its jsut starting to worry me as surely in the long term rickety legs aren't gonna be good? And I'm fed up of giving her time off!

Well we think she's hackney x welsh, her past is a bit of a mystery but thats what we've peiced together. It's also starting (through detective/animal communicater/jigsaw puzzling work) to be believed she grew up on waste/scrubland and her body is still catching up for that now, do you think that could have anything to do with it?
