Now I know there's plenty of threads already on this, but I'm possibly being a bit impatient.
New horse, bought with 6 month guarantee on this particular splint. Vet gave us Compagel and the splint is largely hard now, he's been here for nearly three weeks now. He hasn't been on complete rest, walk and trot, tiny weeny bit of canter on a surface and walk out on hacks. He isn't lame and barely feels it anymore. I'm not worried about the size (which is what most threads are about) He's an ex racer, only showing he will do (if any) is ROR/TARRA so will be accepted.
I've started putting magnetic Bioflow boots on him over night, but he's out 24/7 due to an injury he sustained last Friday that caused a fat leg, he could possibly go in over night again now. It seems to me that the Compagel has done absolutely nothing and the boot is the best thing I've thought of so far. It fills up and is 'squishy', not fluidy as such, through out the day, figuring due to temp change and boot being off. It's still warm, not hot, but warm. I really want to get riding him properly and was a bit naughty today and did a jump, splint filled a bit more, but nothing huge.
I've started putting Ice Gel on after work, but it seems to do nothing.
Best way to get a splint to harden up and cool down? I know work will need to be built up slowly after it's healed, but I'd really like to be at that stage :/
I know... I'm being impatient and I bought hi knowing this, but I so hoped it was going to be faster than this
