My 3 and half year old filly has developed a rather unsightly splint on her near side fore. I have been applying tensolvet gel to the area. She is in at night and has between 6 and 8 hours turnout per day. What treatment options do I have? Also her stable is on a slight gradient. Will this have any effect on the splint? She is also slightly overweight (I am trying to get the weight off her).
Helpppppp!

My new mare has a splint as previous horses, vet is not worried about it as it is not causing any problems.

I will however make sure the farrier makes sure her shoeing is balanced and she wears brushing boots, I suggest you speak to your vet and get their advice as they have seen your horse and can advice the way forward.

Does she need brushing boots on when she's turned out? Sorry for sounding thick, never had a pony qith a splint! I am going to call the vet out to give it the once over, she had her feet trimmed and balanced about a week ago. Any advice in the meantime?

probably knocked herself, I've had youngsters get splints and they disappeared after a few years. I currently have a mare that had splints on all of her legs as a 5 yo, shes now 12 and has perfectly clean legs!
