My horse seems to have a feather issue. She is pure black cob with a lot of feather and on the black ones as they stop the hair looks dead, it goes light bay :S:S How could i remove the dead hair ...? Some one said pulling them

My Dales has the same. I assumed it was sun damage. I don't do anything about it to be honest, as they still feel silky soft when brushed out

Hair is dead anyway...it's probably just sun bleaching on the hair pigment, or if they brush the ground, damage from scraping.
Trim them subtly with thinning scissors, perhaps to take the damaged ends off, and wash with Hibiscrub if you are worried that the skin underneath has problems.
Hope this helps

It is probably from the sun as my horses are like this too and he is black. His mane and tail are particularly bad and have highlights in them like he has been to the hair dressers!
