Okay so this first time dog owner has a quick question.
Yesterday my 15 month old lab came back from a walk lame and I noticed he has split one of his front nails, he was being a big girl about the whole thing so I couldn't get a close look but it was ccertainly the majority of the visible nail that had come away and I could see the end of a blood vessel/flesh?
I've dunked the foot in dilute hibiscrub much to his protest and am going to keep him out of the mud for a few days, does this sound okay? I take it there is no need for a trip to the vets unless he gets much lamer/shows sign of infection?
