I have been feeding small bale haylage which is lovely but expensive as I get through a bale a night between 2 ponies and a horse.
I have changed today to haylage for the horse and lovely hay for the ponies as my supplier is going to run short of haylage at the rate I use it. A lovely big bale arrived which smelt very sweet. The ponies were given more hay than they have of haylage in their haybars. The 12.2 loved it and it might stop him eating his bed to fill up but the 2 year old 14 hand pony just ate her dinner and tried the hay then left it and banged the door. As she wasn't getting what she wanted she had a real strop, tossing her head banging and jumping up and down. Maybe I should have given it mixed with haylage but they haven't been on the haylage long [a couple of weeks] and I thought it would be ok.
Well she will just have to sort herself out and eat hay, it is lovely hay and she is just being a madame
