My daughters gorgeous 11 year old mare has just been diagnosed with spondylosis. We have been told it is very hard to treat and that basically she can't be ridden due to the pain. I am so upset as she is such a beautiful natured horse and considering she has been in so much pain she has not once thrown my daughter off.
I don't have our own field, I can't afford two horses (daughter is only 14 and wants to ride) but don't want to PTS as she is beautiful. Please has anyone got a happy ending with Spondylosis?????

Could your daughter's pony cope with becoming a driving pony, my friend had a situation with the discs in her horses back so he can't carry the weight of a rider, but he is now a fabulous carriage pony and his owner is loving it. Good luck it's so devastating when you can't do much to help them, I know lots about KS but not about spondylosis although I imagine it is a similar long term effect and degenerative, so if you keep her I would have though some ground work training might be nice for your daughter to do with her and it will keep her mobile, there are lots of fun things you can do on the long reins.

Best of luck
