First time poster here, so please bare with me!

I'm currently at hartpury, about to start my second year in an equitation diploma.I've been riding since i was 3 (im now 17) and despite taking some interesting falls over the years, I'm really keen on now taking my riding to the next level.

However, I have no horse of my own and no real funding to back me up. I'm middle class, and due to loss of jobs etc, my family are struggling. I ride a trotter gelding who, although is in the process of being retrained, is showing a fantastic prospet. His paces are perfect, his jump is amazing, and he as an attitude (when ridden!) to die for. The only issue is, hes for sale, which means eventually all my hard work will be forgotten and he will one day find a new home.

So really, what I'm asking is: does anybody know of any equine sponsors that would help me with this project? I would hate to let him go to waste and with that, I'd also prefer it if I too, did not go to waste. I can get land, shelter etc, so general up-keep would not be an issue.

Any advice on this matter would be incredibly useful as I'm at my wits end on what to do about this.

Unfortunately you are not the only one to be hit by the recession, business's will think long and hard before committing to sponsoring anyone. You have to have something to offer them, think of it as you being a sort of shop window for them, you have to be out competing and getting placed, being seen. Many youngsters are in your position, often they have been out competing and doing well but are still unable to secure any funding. There is no saying that the horse you are riding will 'go to waste' and that your hard work will be forgotten, it may have just laid foundations for someone else to build on.
I'm sorry, but I would try to make the most of what you have at the moment, there will be other horses and one day perhaps you will be able to buy your own. Get lots of work experience too as it will make you much more employable in the long run.
Good luck with your riding.
