Could one of you please try and explain to my Mum that yes I may stand in the big pond in the school when I am relaxing out there with my mates I mean DOH.

But she made me go through it yesterday when she was riding me

lots of times

she even made me trot through it

and she called me a big poof

.

She seems to have no realisation that;

a) in the 30 minutes from coming inside and getting my saddle on to going back out to the school ANYTHING could have crawled into it

b) I am merely trying to protect her!!!!

Are all English women mad or would a Dutch owner be the same?

I feel your pain!!

I NEVER EVER walk through ponds they may swallow me or have sharks in or crocodiles.......

The fact that I cheerfully go through them when hunting is I feel irrelevant..............

I am still in counselling from when I was last made to walk through one.......

Dear Vardi,

the Carrot Lady is German-Canadian, so I can't speak from personal experience, but I've heard they have something called dikes over there where the Dutch Warmbloods come from, and I think that means they get ponds too! Or maybe it means they don't get ponds?

Maybe they build them so that they don't get ponds, which would mean they don't like them, and probably wouldn't make their horses go in them, either!

...it occurs to me I may have to rethink my resolution to try splashing in a pond...if the Dutch want to keep their horses out of them, then maybe there is a very good reason for that?

My only suggestion to you would be to walk backwards really fast. It'll get your bum smacked, but if you persist, in the end, she'll have to get off and lead you into the pond. And then she'll be in it too!

Dear Vardi's Mum,

Please dont make poor Vardi walk/trot through these random ponds, its really not fair! You're not the one who has to get your tootsies wet and it makes us rather cold

Also, YOU may not think there is anything in the bottom of them that may hurt us, but we know that there are yucky wriggly worms and stuff in the bottom and we dont like them being stuck to our feet, they get tickly!!
So yeah .. please think of your poor pony in future!

I think I may have set her straight there

Hopefully now she'll get the message. I agree with SpookyPony about walking backwards so she has to get off and go in it too

but make sure if she goes to smack you that you dont shoot round cause then she may trick you into walking backwards through it

They can be quite devious these humans.

Hey Vardi,

it must be something about these crazy english women.

My Mum totally lost the plot last year!

She took me to the beach and made me go in the sea really deep to swim.

She got knocked off by a wave and had to swim after me

Spooky – I am living in Holland . Mum moved here to be with Dad and as she was so upset at having to leave her old horse behind (he lives in a place called Cyprus where there are no ponds but she used to make him walk down a river

and apparently old Martini Golden Balls used to do it and enjoy it Yeah right!

) he bought me for her.

And yes we do have dykes and canals so we are not meant to have ponds! But since all the white stuff has gone away (the white stuff was cool and I got holidays!) we have a BIG pond in the school Yikes!

If I do the backwards thing you recommend will I still get a Peppermint at the end or not?

BGL – Sharks and Crocodiles???? OMG…… So when you are “hunting” do they give you some kind of spear gun? is that is why you are not afraid to go through the ponds?

So can we all conclude that English women are basically mad and seem to be fixated about ponds, rivers and this Sea place and making us go in it? Why me I am only 5.

Vard, DON'T DO IT!!! Act lame, seriously lame, at all costs, don't let your crazy mum fool you!!!

It's a terrible place.

You get wet from head to hoof, the sea spits stingy salt into your eyes, and you smell really gross afterwards too.

When you go really deep the sea gets angry and roars at you and tries to eat you!!

This is what my mum called the waves!! A really big wave tried to eat her!!

I was 16 last year when my mum took me to the horrid sea.

I'm sorry to break it to you mate, but you have a long, long, longggggg time and many summers ahead of you trying to dodge this horrible experience. Lets hope your mum isn't totally insane and attempts to take you when it's cold in winter!!!!
