Sport horse insurance and brokers

Hi there!

I am doing a bit of research on sport horse insurance for my dressage horses and am wondering if there is a more recommended company to go with, and also if there are brokers who also deal with this??

They are expensive horses so I am trying to find the best option for them...

I have mine with Shearwater but have also used South Essex and Pet Plan. House and van are with NFU, who I also rate.

One broker I have used was Julie Andrews horse insurance. It has changed hands since, so I am told.

Thanks Red 1! Would you rate using a broker or do you rely more on calling round for quotes?

I always call round for a quote, find the one that suits best. Some require X rays over 10K, I went with one who did not. Some do high excesses, I have a £300 or £500 excess. I also choose to insure below value, so I chose one who allowed that too.

Nothing wrong with ringing a broker too.

NFU is expensive but imo by far the best, my now retired thoroughbred had every possible injury and they never didn’t pay out. Vets also say they’re the easiest to deal with
