So once your foal has 'popped' out what do you do!?

How do you go about registering the foal? is there a time period you have to register it in?

Once registered how do i go about entering gradings and evaluations? which ones do you recommend?

Mare reg with ISH and Stallion was SHGB and AES.

Just want to give my little foaly the best experience possible (once born) without doing too much wrong!

If the stallion is Sports Horse Breeding Great Britain (SHB GB) then about this time of the year you get all your registration documents through... I have just sent all of mine off, complete with DNA sample.

Once the mare is confirmed still in foal 1st October you should be issued with a covering certificate. The stallion owner should give you the choice of AES or SHGB.
When it's born before registering the vet has to come and do it's ID and microchipping if required. Various breed societies and BEF do foal evaluations and mare gradings.

Last yr the foal was by a Trak ex of a Welsh x QH mare, I reg the foal as a PB Trak at about 3mths at the same time getting him MC'd. His passport was then overstamped by the SHBS. This year the mare is unknown but the stallion is an ISH so the colt will be reg with them & again overstamped by the SHBS. His papers have already gone in, but there was doubt over his final covering, so they put the passport on hold.
