After all the discussions last week about the injuries that can be caused by underwired bras, I've been a good girl and have taken to wearing my sports bra.

Now I feel I must make it clear that this is for safety only and not because I have any bounce/potential black eye issues!

Out riding tonight I happened to catch sight of our reflection in a window (checking that ponio was working correctly - no vanity involved - honest!) and OMG I looked like a boy (admittedly a boy with a pony tail - but still!)

This got me thinking. During the hot weather at a show, I generally warm up without a jacket. If we're now going to be up against the likes of Katie Price (who clearly does have bounce/potential black eye issues) then I'm going to be feeling a bit inadequate!

The question is - should I resort to 'assistance' (chicken fillets/cotton wool/socks/toilet roll)?

Trouble is I suppose I run the risk of looking like a hunchback if the padding relocates during sitting trot! Should I go under the knife - or should I just remain 'chestily challenged' forever?!

Help please - feeling very inadequate now!

Choccy, wine & biccies if you got this far - thanks!

i cant help sorry...

In the end it is what you feel more comfortable doing

but i have to say....that made me chuckle

Riding isn't about showing off your femininity nor your boobs
tongue.gif
Your style of riding is all that matters and normally is the obvious hint that you are female as there is - to me anyway - a huge differentiation from the male to female styles of riding! I am not well enstowed but hey, I'm grateful as I'm told they make riding uncomfortable..

UMMMMM, I'm sticking to my underwired t-shirt bra thanks
wink.gif
I bought a sports bra, wore it once, I too looked like a boy and put it in the drawer where it has never seen the light of day since!!!
smirk.gif

Oh to have that problem - Trust me less is more where riding is concerned
smirk.gif
- anchoring down a set of 36DD's is a challenge at the best of times
blush.gif
- I wish I was still my youthful 32A
laugh.gif

I'm with you on that - my sports bra resembles a hammock! Although have just got one of the Pure Lime bras from active underwear website and it is sooooo comfy and controls them!!!

me too padded underwired bras all the way at shows, not overly fussed for general yard lol

I dont think many people look at your boobs when you are competing??

After I read the story of the stabbing i went out and bought a sports bra! It scared me silly! I dont really care if i look like a boy. Body protectors for xc squish them anyway!

I wish i had your problem, im huge (to the point that even walking without a bra on is painful and i sleep in bravissimo supported nightware) and cant ride without my shock absorber bra.
I use the highest level shockabsorber available as i dont want to have the tendons, skin and support for my boobs stretched by not wearing a good sports bra.

*agrees with connie girl* difference is, i'm 15. I've always had to wear a sports bra when it comes to riding, as was a DD at 11. Now a 32F/G at 15.
I would love to be in your position! I found a stall at burghley called www.lessbounce.com and they're fantastic, got my sports bra from there and I tell you what - I'm not going anywhere! LOL.
If you are conscious, Adidas [sp], Le Coq Sportif, and Nike all do "support crops". They're reinforced lycra crop tops that you put over yours normal bra, so you dont lose any shape. Granted they're not as good as proper sports bra's, bt its worth a shot.

The last thing I'm thinking about when I'm warming up is whether I look like a boy or not so this post is a bit lost on me!
confused.gif
Nor do I have time to look at anyone else to see if they look like a boy, so I think you'll find your worries are unfounded!

Thats me all over. I just make sure my Bra's are fairly decent and not old so hopefully no skewering issues! Just a good reason to keep buying new underwear (not that I really needed any)

Thanks Guys.

Obviously its all meant to be a bit tongue-in-cheek - and yes Baydale - I agree there's probably not much time and too much stress in the warm-up to be too concerned - but it's been good fun reading some of the comments back!

Couldn't agree more!! i spend more time worrying about what the horse looks like than what i look like!! i'm relatively flat chested, and wear a high support sports bra.. a 34b level 3 support (can't remember the make) but my comfort in sitting trot is of far greater importance than if someone can see a nice round pair of boobs or not!!!

I remember when I was training at the Yorkshire Riding Centre Mrs Bartle (who was a bit scary, but in a lovely way!) suggesting to one girl who was well endowed that she strap them down with a tail bandage.

Can't ride properly without a sports bra - can go for a tootle out hacking but schooling is a no no. Am a 30E, which is a ridiculous size (and I'm shrinking as my sports bra is a 28E and has to be done up on the tighest setting)

I would like my sports bra to make me look like a boy, would you care to swap?
