Daughter is entered in two classes next week - all I can tell from the schedule is that she can pick her own course over half a dozen jumps, and then there is a set show which must include certain movements (given in schedule)
Has anyone done these, and can they tell me - do they all go into the ring together initially, like a Working Hunter, and then jump separately - or do they go in individually, do their jumping, then their show? Or?
We think the classes sound good for our boy, but we'd sure like to know what we are going to have to do!

Hi, are they 2 seperate classes? If so the jumpng one sounds like Top Score, the jumps would have points on them instead of numbers and the person with the most points win, theres usually a joker where if you jump it and clear it it doubles your points or if you knock it down it takes you score back to 0. Have a look at the schedule and give me the names of the classes i might be able to help you more, or give the show organisers a ring theyll be able to explin the rules for you. :)

No, they each ('Sport Horse' and 'Style and Performance') have a jumping element, where you select a minimum of 6 out of 10 fences varying from 2' - 3' (given there is no height or age restriction pony/horse wise) and a set show element.
They are judged on %s of jumping, style, conformation etc - as far as I can make out.
I could ring the secretary, or we might just wing it - we'll be alright either way, OD's pony wouldn't be phased if they had to do the whole thing backwards in the dark with a pig in the ring, so I suppose we could just find out when we get there ! :D

Is this Cricklade show by any chance?

I did a similar class there with Ellie one year. From what I remember, you go in individually and jump round, then they bring you all in to do your individual shows. They do expect some slightly more complex stuff than at your average local show - change of leg, for instance - and if it is Cricklade then I think they set out their expectations for the show in the front of the schedule :)

I remember thinking it was all a bit weird - there werent many entries, and those who did enter (myself included!) were not exactly classy to watch :o:D

that's the one :)

Well, in that case, we'll be in good company and it will be a bit of fun. We were chiefly scared of being totally outclassed!
