Good morning everyone. I was wondering if I could get some advice from those of you in the showing world.
I have an 8 month ish filly. She is from a registered ish mare but the sire is unknown ( owner bought her unknowingly in foal and dealer unsure who the sire is!).

She certainly looks Ish and has good bone but obviously it is early days. Hoping to try showing her as a yearling in either sports horse yearling or hunter type yearling classes. My questions are: which society should I register her with? Will some society's not register her as we don't know the sire? Does anyone know where the best shows are for these sort of classes ( in the south east)? Any tips for turn out for myself and her.

I have a lovely plain bridle for her and a rubber bit ( she had chewed it but not bitted yet). I know she needs to be plaited and trimmed but should I do quarter marks?

Grateful for any advice as I know very little about showing!

Thanks in advance

If you want to show at county level, she'll need to be registered with SHB(GB). She can go on the basic ID registration if you don't have breeding details. If you only want to do local stuff, unless they stipulate in the schedule, she doesn't need to be registered with any breed society. What passport has she ATM?

Thank you for your reply. She just has a pet I'd passport at the moment. I don't know if I will do county really depends how it's all going when she's 1 but at the same time would rather have the option if she does do well enough.

Thanks lo. I checked on sh gb and they say yearlings should be bitted. I was a bit suprised but then I've only previously looked at showing natives. God knows how I'll get the plaits right... Haven't plaited for years!
