Has anyone else been asked to complete this? If so, am interested in your thoughts. I only feed a broad based vit/min supplement and don't agree with feeding loads of supplements for the sake of it - although of course they have a place for a lot of horses. This survey was gauging opinion on a different approach to feeding supplements and the development of supplements to feed for either Lifestage/Breed OR Lifestage/Activity level age of horse. One of the ideas is a 'Warmblood supplement'. Apparently WBs are prone to putting weight (agree - mine is!) have poor horn growth and quality - now this I totally disagree with.

I don't think you can develop supplements for Warmbloods any more than you can for Thoroughbreds as they can vary so much. They also mentioned joint problems in WB's due to being big horses which would put more strain on the joints. Surely that sort of problem is more down to what level and amount of work the horse is asked to do and conformation? (without the fact that WB's come in all shapes and sizes!)

Thoughts?
Oh - and would you be able to guess which company is developing this?

Hi there - yep I took the survey.

Thought it was a shame that it did not distinguish between having control over main feed and supplements. In my case, I have total control over supplements, and agree with the YO what main food to give my horse, but I would not go out there and buy it myself as this is part of my livery. So I ended up ticking a lot of boxes where I truly did not know the answer to.

Also - I think feeding according to breed does not make sense to me. What about all the cross-breds? Makes more sense to feed according to exercise levels and general condition and temperament.

Would have never guessed the supplier!

Yes some of the questions could have been thought out better. Like the question what problems does your horse have - there was no option for none so I had to choose 'other'. ridiculous!
The whole point of supplements is that they are specific to the horses needs - except perhaps just vit supplements - so a cover all supplement won't work. You may not do any harm, but you will end up feeding stuff you don't need to

Yes - didn't guess the manufacturer at all!
