Hi,

How many of you have a nice sporty number cars and own and pay for your horse?
I have a Subaru Impreza, and have thought about selling it and getting a smaller car and buying a horse, but I know I will be so bored with a smaller, slower car.

Michelleice - I notice in your siggy, you have a scooby, is that yours? How do you run that AND a horse?

Well I don't have a sports car per se but have a sports Beetle! No room in the boot or in the back makes for very dirty front seats (especially when they are lime green!) The car has a 2lt engine so uses a lot of fuel which isn't ideal for yard trips and I now drive my fast car slowly to conserve petrol. I'd say get a more practical car but then I like beating the chavs at the lights

I used to have a lovely little MX5...first time I tried to get a haybale in the boot made me realise that horses and lttle cars don't mix! Now drive an L200, can carry lots and tow the trailer but my days of whizzing around in something sporty are now over...sigh! Worth it though!

I have the best of both worlds.

I have a BMW 5 Series 4.4L, which is very fast and really roomy.

If the mood takes me I can use Hubby's Z3.

TBH I prefer mine. Getting tack in and out of the Z3 needs a contortionist!

I have a Honda Civic vTEC Sport (1.8cc but I normally get 36-40mpg out of her) and it is the one of the most spacious and economical cars in its class. I love it and even though i really need something for towing, i can't bear to part with my wee Sporticus. Waiting for OH to trade his Accord in, which should happen in the next 6-12months and persuade him to get a 4x4.

I can get 12 bales of shavings in the back with the seats down and it can fairly shift.

I draw the line at muddy dogs, straw or anything messy as it has mesh seats which are a swine to clean. It's kept a hell of a lot cleaner than my house!

Saddle goes on the front seat of the z4, belted in . Had it for five years, only owned horses for 3 years. Scared to sell it as may have to get a sensible car. Lots of money and full livery helps!

After I sold my horse years ago, thought i'd never get another so bought a new honda civic type R, great fun, but then decided to buy a new horse and realised it wasnt going to be practical. I now have a L200 warrior and wouldnt change it for the world, besides being just a bit slower than the type R to pull away and overtake, the L200 is so much more fun and believe it or not cheaper to run than the type R too.

why do you think it will be a problem sure all you have to pay is your insurance and tax and petrol !

i have a classic cult car over here, very much wanted and expensive to buy, but i wouldn't be without it i love it and love having fun in it, as per video lol
Me goin mad!

obviously this is only used for weekends and use a more sensible practical car for horse duties lol

I'm lucky enough to have the best of both worlds too...get to drive around in my MGF but use the OH's Terrano when I need to tow or collect stuff. Got him to buy a 4x4 when I first had the horse as I used to do 30k miles pa & couldn't justify running a 4x4 on those miles....now he loves his 4x4 & wouldn't swap it :-D

Our tack room is quite secure at the yard (looks around for some wood to touch) so keep all my tack there. Also, we have a haylage club & the YO orders my feed for me, so don't often need to carry loads of stuff!

I have a sporty car but if I had to choose between a sporty car and having a horse it would be a no brainer - horse wins everytime! I used to have a corsa and a horse and now have an Audi but if needs be the Audi would go to make way for the horse in a heartbeat! The car is paid for by work so thats why I have it.

I must admit, if I am sensible in the scooby, I can make a full take (about £50) last a week and a half, but if OH gets in it over the weekend, he tends to use a bit more than me.... I drive it like Miss Daisy. I purely like the looks it gets and also the "Oh my god, its a girl driving that scooby" comment!!!

I am thinking of selling it, as I have had it for a few years now, and its time for change, but thinking of getting a newer Scooby in stead now!!!

I have a honda prelude 2.2 vtec which is pretty horrid on short journey's but fine on longer runs...and have had 2 horses, now only one but I wouldn't change my car for the world i love it!
I can get about 4 bales of shavings in it and feed...so yeah not bad, but tend to get stuff delivered tbh saves my car...it does tend to get bit mucky though which means extra cleaning! but it works for me.
I've had the 4x4's and sensible new cars but nothing compares to my lude.

I have a mx5 now, I can actually fit a bale of hay along the boot but have to tie it down, i can fit a bag of feed on the back shelf and three on the passenger seat. Admittedly sometimes my car looks like i have hit a haystack, and when i broke my arm and cdnt lift bales i had to put sections of hay in binbags and stuff them inside my car, but i do manage!

I've got the sensible 4x4 Disco for everyday and hubbys got the FQ340 Evo IX which we play in at weekends so best of both worlds........he's very protective over his car, its not allowed anywhere near the yard though incase he gets hay on his alcantara!!!!

I had an bright red MGF registration AHP = 'A Happy Person' Then along came Mickey and we part x'd the MGF for a Shogun to tow the trailer... then Mickey wouldn't go in the trailer for about a year!! Oh the joy of horses! My poor MGF.

2002 bug eye wrx its OH and mine icouldnt afford horse and scooby alone lippy x where u from? Sorry if spellings rubbish phone doesn't have spell checker

I finally got my dream car last year but is not costing any more than my old 1.6 escort (which i loved as well). I'm planning on doing some mods on mine soon and love the 'it's a girl driving' i get it all the time. not that im a girl racer

I dont plan on getting rid of it anytime soon

I have a MX5 - certainly not horse friendly...a few bags of feed is about the limit!

Other half had a Landrover before I brought my horse but sold it 2weeks before I decided to buy because we didn't use it for anything it was designed for and brought a sporty little BMW 1 series coupe so he 'could have more fun'...now I need a towing car as I can't rely on others for lifts forever. I think I will be trading in the MX5 in the next year :-)

weve got the best of both worlds. mum has an MGF whilst i have an IQ and landy defender. So i get to play speeding around in the MGF but have the landy for the horsey stuff, however regularly have we got 2 people in front plus 2 saddles in the passenger seat and the rest of the tack in the boot - just takes careful arranging

I have a Peugeot 206cc and with the roof up can get 5 sacks of feed in the boot. My tack still fits in the boot with the roof down (ascertained this before purchase!!). 2 small back seats provide more storage space aswell. Very practical even for a convertible. Leather upholstery is a must as the mud just wipes off.

vam - nice 200 or is it skyline? cant really tell you have there...what mods you planning?
I'm kinda like a girl racer, love my lude i've got some mods on it already but planning on doing lots more...when i have the money.

Vam - VERY nice, drifting car too!! Fast & Furious here we come!!
Michelleice, I am from Southend, Essex. I have been looking at the Bug Eye WRX's, and they are pretty smart!! My little beast is a lovely car, but it is time to move on I feel, especially as I have spent a bit of money on her this year (clutch, brakes, service etc) Its my second Scooby, and as much as I think about getting something different, there is something about Scoobies that I love!!

ok here goes. I have an old but perfectly reliable Isuzu trooper ( I love my Ruby) OH has an MGFT, which is nice for summer fun and for winter warmth and comfort we have a Saab 93 !

We have the best of both worlds - I have a very boring but practical passat (company car), OH has a Seat Leon Cupra (which he managed to wing as a company car?!) and this is the weekend toy (currently a 600bhp work in progress):

I've had two Imprezas previously including a rally prepped RB5 - fab fun

Cazzah.... excuse me as I drool over the laptop!! That is lovely!! Is it a Type R? Thats what I have but in blue, and its standard, which TBH is lovely when driving on motorways, but a bit frustrating when you get something worth playing with... like at the weekend, we had a 2dr Sierra Cosworth follow us home, and boy he was not moving from my rear bumper, must have been pulling 400bhp easily!!
