In your opinion do you think the Neue Schule bits such as the universal gags & the beval (Wilkie) snaffles are really worth the price? Do you really feel they make a difference or do you find a normal dutch gag & wilkie snaffle does the same job.

Just interested.....

I have def found the 'aurigan' type mouthpieces to give a softer better contact with a sensitive mare. Having said that Floss prefers Nathe.

I have 1 in Sprenger/neue schule, 1 in myler, 1 in cheap sweet iron and 1 in a Nathe.

All bits (except the Nathe) are double jointed.

I suppose it's whatever suits your budget.

I have found the NS Universal to be amazing on my mare. Certainly worth the money to me. She is so much happier and forward going than she was before. It's also grreat becuase it gives me brakes when jumping/hacking but has the same mouthpiece as her snaffle so it's an easy change between the two for dressage etc. I prefer the lozenge link as it doesn't pinch, although I think some of the cheaper bits also use a lozenge instead of a flat link.

As Thistle above, my bits are all double jointed. I personally don't like a single joint, I feel they can be a bit sharp tbh.
