Depends on the breeding because they seem to be a bit randam. My sisters mare is reg App being from spotted parents but is a bay & though she has a lot of ability I dont see any quality about her; Her dam is from the Blythwind line & she is by R Mellow Kinsman. She has QH & TB breeding among other things. I have seen some very nice Apps, but I would check out their past as you could get a throwback you were not expecting!
Goshka Sport Horses own one, FAUST AF ELMELYGAARD, who guarantees 100% spotty foals. He's a lovely sort as well, with a fantastic temperament (stud owner's children ride him) and movement.
I tend to use non-appaloosa solid sport stallions on my purebred mare. That way, even if there are no spots/colour they usually have athleticism (sp?) and are still good horses. I just use stallions with a good performance record, and that I like, and colour is a bonus! If I had to use an appy stallion, it would probably be Centaur Jolly Jack
I'm using a graded British Appaloosa on my mare. 16hh, has BD points but currently eventing. A nice all rounder.
If you have a look on the British Appaloosa site, they have a stallion section. I'm using Lambrigg Valentine - the bottom one. He's lovely, a real character.
Asti is over there "doing the deed" at the moment.
I've seen his youngsters, seem very laid back and they move well.
I'm not bothered if the foal doesn't spot out - I like his nature and build and performance which was why I chose him.
centyfield stud has a knabstrupper spotted stallion with a fab temeprement really lovely horse very talented jus tryin to think of his bloody name!!!ahh remebered its hamlet frydenlund (SP)
