I love this horse. I'm hoping he will be my old age 'horse of a lifetime' horse. He's been a doddle to back (that'll jinx it!) and today I even gave him a firm kick to keep him walking and he didn't care. He's got an opinion without being stupid or dizzy, he loves being worked with, he's quick to learn and he thinks I'm the best thing since someone invented pony cubes :)

I think he moves better than any other horse I have owned, and I'm including four grand prix bred warmbloods in that, one of which cost me five times what I paid for him.

He's three, weak, immature and not ready to do anything more than a few minutes walk yet. But I'm very excited about the future when he grows into those legs!

I hope you can see why?

(I'm well aware that the knee action is greater than many people would want to see, but for me it is perfection, I've always loved a bit of natural knee lift :))

Is he already getting roaning out & getting paler? He is rather lovely and I'm also liking the view from your arena. I have the m40 which isn't quite as scenic!

He's almost white already. I said I'd never have a white horse but he is what he is!

I have one of the most scenic arenas in the world, I think, there's a lake down the end. I love it. Of course that's easy to say on a day like this!!

God he's gorgeous, love the action, i would love to ride him too when he matures , i think he would be like a mix of my Arab and PRE.
Really good buy YCBM :)

He is very Araby, maybe from his trotter mama, and of course Appys are related to PREs as well. I can see where you get the idea from.

I'm so pleased you all like him :)

I'm not sure sure how handsome I think he is, though it will be interesting to see how his head ends up when his jowls develop (Why do they get bigger as they age??). Obviously he isn't ugly :D but white ringed eyes and the mottled skin on his face don't do a lot for me, though the ginger ears are fun. But he is a lovely horse, though I say it myself.

He was a spur of the moment purchase at a time when I needed to cheer myself up. I only saw him loose in a field, but it seems to have turned out well, touch wood.

He's lovely, not surprised you're excited about his future! Love his ginger ears, and he has a very knowing/intelligent look, if that makes sense.

Oooh: me likey! You're going to have fun with him, methinks :)

I was waiting for your opinion, you have so much experience. I'm glad you like him.

The horse in my avatar was my horse of a lifetime, but his heart was stronger than his body. I have a very similar feeling about this one as I did about him, he just 'does something' for me that I can't quite explain.

Yes, I know that feeling, and it's never been wrong for me yet. He's a smashing horse; where on earth did that movement come from?

I have no idea! Dad was an unregistered appaloosa put to a classy standardbred by a man who breeds and races trotters in Wales. He is registered partbred standardbred.

I saw what I thought was decent movement when his owners whooshed him round a lumpy field between his mares but the reality far exceeds that.

Here's the walk if you want to check the overtrack.

The spotty botty had its first 'whoops' moments today as the sparrows flew into the barn. He shoots forwards a couple of paces and then stops again. If that's his reaction - forward, no spin, no hump - I'll be more than happy. The saddle rocked a bit too, he really did have quite an excuse to go off on one. What a good boy :)

We are up to five minutes ridden, getting straight on with no lunging or in hand work, doing some very approximate circuits and figures of eight in a small barn. It's a bit stop start, but he's getting the idea that walk on means walk on until I say don't. Stop is a bit hit and miss, but he's learning fast. Once he has start, stop and turn and we have a still, quiet day, I'll get him outside on the arena and we can try for a trot in the bigger space on better footing.

He's very sweet.

Is he going grey or roaning out?

I think he's going to end up almost white with a minimum ginger varnish on his ears and face. His knees and hocks are more grey than red, as it his mane and tail. With the spots, of course, they're never going to go. He has some so dark they look black, on the top of his bum, and they get more red the further down his side they are. He was born bay!
