Sprained Fetlock.......

Ponio sprained a fetlock last week and has been in the box on bute since. He is now sound in walk and v slightly lame at trot (was hopping lame before) - difficult to tell how lame he is now as he is popping out of his skin when you trot up but he is not nodding like he was before. Would like to turn him out in a small pen in a few days and give him paddock rest - could acp him to make sure he doesn't go mental - would turning out be wise or a recipe for disaster?

I would suggest you call your vet and ask their advice as they saw it. My horse sprained his fetlock but was never really lame just had a lump on the front and had bruised the joint. He had controlled walking for couple of weeks
