Ive ordered a KK Ultra for my extra large mouthed cob (as they do 6 1/4 inch ones).

Do people rate these or have any experiences of using them - how they horses way of going changed etc?

I have used them for years on various different horses and ponies. I have never found one so far that was not happy accepting it. I even used to have one on my exercise bridle when I worked in racing and the racehorses seemed to like it as well. I find you can give more subtle aids with them when you are asking for flexion etc.

Of course you will need to make sure that your horse's teeth don't need doing as then it won't matter which bit you use :-p

I bought my first one for my ex-racehorse who was unhappy in his mouth from a combination of being yanked around while in training and then spending a year on loan to an equine college. It made all the difference to him and he really relaxed with it and his dressage really improved.

I really like them and think they are one of the most horse friendly bits there are as they were designed around the horses mouth. Being made of german gold (aurigan) makes them warmer in the horses mouth and they oxidise so keep there mouth moist.

A hint for cleaning them - I use Bar Keepers Friend - You should be able to get it at Tescos.

Good luck with yours, I hope your cob likes it :-)
