Sprenger Bits

I have what i think is a sprenger bit and since taking my bridle apart I cant remember the way this bit is supposed to go on! There is a small arrow on one end of the bit, does this point up or down and what side of the horses head should it be on?

The arrow should be on the left of the horses head and pointing forwards
