Sprenger Bow strirrups size

Dear all

I have just purchased a secound hand pair of Sprenger Bow stirrips size 4 3/4. I have used them for the first time today and worried they are to small. I have size 6 feet and wore my smallest pair of boots today and found no room between my boot and the edge of the stirrup.

I know the edges are chain link so guess they would give if I had a fall. Anyone else own these stirrups. Will mainly be using them for hacking out and flatwork.

also forgot to add found the really strange to ride in. Guess they need getting used to as so different to bog standard stirrups.
