...anyone got one of these bits?
If so how do you find it & where is the cheapst place to get one from?

Thanks

Sorry to post this in CR but just trying get some feedbck! Also in NL & SY!

Is it a nice bit? I'm after something to give me a few more brakes out hacking but he's usually a snaffle mouth so don't want something too different?
Is action same as a hanging cheek?

Thanks

Yes it is a lovely bit, and one I use a lot. The action is similar to a hanging snaffle, but more specific, a little poll and a little tongue. I like it

And you think it will give me more in the way of brakes/control than my KK loose ring? I don't want to get away from him being a snaffle mouth but it affects my nerves out hacking if he feels as tho he's going to run from something scary.

I really couldn't say - TBH if you want to remain with the KK mouthpiece, I would go for the KK Universal rather than the B ring - you can use it on the snaffle ring or the lower ring, it is still mild but you have the extra oomph if you need it, you can use it with 2 reins so best of both worlds

I'm really sorry to be such a bore with this!!!!
I posted yesterday about whether I should change to a rubber pelham and if so with roundings or double reins to offer more control out hacking (my boy is usually very good, it will only, hopefully, be short term and/or in new situations etc.)

I know it's hard to say but would you say the Universal or B-ring might be a better choice than a pelham, kimblewick, gag etc?
I do also struggling to get him to soften thro his neck & jaw schooling and thought something with a little poll pressure & a little tongue pressure (as you say about the B-ring) might help...? Tho the schooling is secondary to the hacking issue - we can manage with the loose ring for schooling really.

I am having to hack my usually polite boy in his jumping bit ATM as he is a nuisance, so I can sympathise with you - I too don't want it to be a long term thing, so I use a KK Universal or a Waterford Jumper Bit (NS) as I would prefer to stay light and not have to haul, which is what I do with the snaffle

Reading your thread, etc, I would still recommend the KK Universal TBH - you can school in it, please don't think it is just KKs version of a dutch gag!

I will hack Ted out in the B ring tomorrow and see if I think I have any more control than the snaffle, and get back to you!

You are a star! Thanks so much!!!
I think I am a little put off the universal as it looks like a gag!!!!? I know I'm weird!!!!!
Think I will read up on it in the meantime tho as that could be the way forward for us...

KK Universal is my 'magic bit'. Best money I've ever spent! Absolute turn around using it on several of my horses. Gives me feeling, but also gives me brakes and horses like it too. You can ride really light with it, but apply it when you need it.

Just found out from horsebitbank.com that this bit even in the aurigan metal is BD and BE legal......
Just tried this bit and my horse now goes brilliantly in it after using a normal hanging cheek and needed to now it it was legal so thought i would post it on here.

I've just asked the same question of British Dressage and they have told me this bit is NOT permitted. I have one in my collection and was going to try it after reading this post. I'll be looking for a baucher now instead :(
