Think they are fab bits. Use them on both of my horses and my friend borrowed one to try for her horse and ended up getting one too. Interestingly enough she used to change her horses bit regularly but has had this one for over a year and hasn't mentioned changing again.
Have got the eggbut version for my horse and he seemed to like it at first and did like the different metal they use on their bits but now we are having contact issues.
Spoke to neue schule and going to try their team up bit as have had good reviews from people for it as a bit for fussy mouths. They said their lozenge sits at 20 degrees wheras the kk sits at 45 degrees and although some may go well in the kk at first its not as maintainable. I know its their product and they are going to sell it but thought I would give theirs ago.
What do you want it for? i whats the purpose? It may be a good bit but maybe not for what you need?
also at 120 quid(what my bit would be to buy now!) its not the cheapest!
My horse does not like it when you take up a contact and tends to snatch at the reins or shake her head from side to side. Have had her back and teeth checked and she is fine so thought I would look at trying a new bit. She is in an ordinary snaffle at the moment.
I am no expert with bits but I think it is a bit of trial and error with them and thinking about the mouth conformation and what you want the bit to do.
By ordinary snaffle do you mean eggbut or loose ring single jointed?
How big is your horses mouth and how big is the tongue? If its single jointed it may be hitting the roof of mouth causing the snatching. so would probably benefit from a lozenge.
however if mouth is small may benefit from narrower bit and possibly shape to it - lots of possibilities!
generally i think these new metals like kk i think its aurigan and neue shcule its salox do tend to make horses accept the bit more.
I've just made the decision to sell mine (not a sales pitch, honest!) because my horse won't accept the contact in it at all. She is fussy in her mouth but this seems to make her worse, she won't accept the contact and throws her head around all over the place.
I think it's a case of trial & error because I know people who have had good results, and it was a friend of mine who persuaded me to buy one as her fussy horse settled in it really well.
i bought mine from townendonline last week and wish i'd bought one years ago. my mare has never been 'bad' in the mouth, but not always 100% happy in a contact, but in the kk ultra she is really happy. everything has just come so much easier, particularly her transitions and rein back.
can't recommend it enough
My youngster prefers her eggbutt Ultra to any other bit. Head tossing almost disappeared now and will accept the bit when being schooled. She doesn't like the loose ring version and was very fussy in the mouth with that.
The kk link loose ring was the first bit I used on my mare as I didn't have any history on her and it seemed a nice option to try. She seemed ok to start with then became fussy in the mouth, shook her head and carried it high?
I decided that the kk was to fat for the small conformation of her mouth and then changed her to a myler comfort with hooks, she's so much happier and accepting in that.
