ive heard mixed things about sprenger stirrups, but ive been pondering them recently. i bought Teddy with money that was left to me and i have some leftover.

now last november i was thrown off quite badly and somehow managed to twist my knee (i should get it checked i know) and it still plays up every so often certainly at least once a month, it has a deep ache on bad days that gets sharp pain every now and then too and i cant seem to get comfy enough in a stirrup to ride for a long period of time and i was wondering if any kind of Sprenger Stirrups may help me to keep my knee in a better position and just generally help me be a bit more comfy? any advice or opinions would be great.

Buy unbranded flexi stirrups to see if you like the action. I love mine as I have a dodgy ankle and they have really helped. I couldn't afford Sprengers or justify the expense, so I bought a pair of flexi's on e-bay for £14.99. That was nearly three years ago and they have had a fair bit of use and are still fine. They seem to make keeping my heels down much easier too.

i've got the sprengers and really rate them, both the normal ones and the bow-balance ones. if you are doing fast work and jumping, i would get the real deal. i've heard of the cheapo ones breaking...
fwiw, they are half the price in Germany (literally) so if you know anyone over there, ask them to send a pair over.

Pixxie - there was a post yesterday something like 'Which stirrups....' have a look at that it was full of Sprenger fans - me included!!

Also if you have a quick search in here and stable yard (possibly the old NL) you will find a load of threads about them - mainly rave reviews!!

Hi, as much as I would love to be able to afford a pair of Sprenger stirrups, I've had to settle for a cheaper version and they're great. I suffer with grief from with my knees and ankles and they definately help.

I have the bow balance and the standard sprengers and wouldnt be without them, I have had knee problems for years and these make the world of difference and although they cost a bit, i think they are worth it to be honest

I love my Sprengers - but there ARE HUGE diferences between those adn cheapy copies - A friend has copies on her saddle, and they felt like normal stirrups compared to my Sprengers.

I tend to take my Sprengers with me if I'm riding other horses.

Sprengers all the way help me loads with dodgy dodgy knees and ankles.. i tired the cheaper ones and they arent as good as they dont bend that much... defo worth the money I got mine for a birthday present and now wont ride with out them!!
