I'm looking to buy some Sprenger stirrups to help with a knee injury, but I was wondering which sort people have, what the difference is between models (bow balance, system 4 etc) and which people prefer/find most effective?

Thanks

I had the bow balance and loved them. I have arthritic knees and at the time they were very painful, these stirrups helped loads! :)

I have the Bow Balance ones - I use them for hacking and occasionally dressage (I don't jump so wouldn't know whether slinkyunicorn's comment about them being more for jumpers would be correct; I do know a lot of eventers who have them though) as I get aching knees and ankles. They're well worth the money! I paid £80 but would have paid full price quite happily and not regretted it. They are harder to lose as they have lovely wide treads, and are so much more comfortable than "normal" stirrups. I really like the normal Sprengers too, though.

Just out of interest - for some reason I find them easier to use with the one marked "L" on the right, and the one marked "R" on the left... maybe mine are marked wrong? Or maybe I'm just odd :p

I have arthritis and muscle problems, my Sprengers help me no end and would never go back to normal stirrups.

I have Bow Balance on my jump saddle and the offset eye version (Is this the system 4?) for my dressage saddle. It took me a few years to finally pay up and get some but I only wish I had done it much sooner ;)
