Sprenger stirrups

Hurrah ! found my Bow balance Sprenger stirrups ..... Gone brain dead and cannot remember which way round they go ........! Either way they dont look right ! I know they have L and R on them but is that when Im sitting on horse ( my left and right ) or when you stand at horses head and look down the horse ( off side near side ?) ? I know.... a stupid question ... but for some reason my mind has just gone blank !
