Is the spring grass very rich this year? My pony is very full of himself - I'm hoping it will fade as the sugar levels drop.

The sudden change in the weather from very dry to lots of rain has spiked the grass and given anything grazing a very sudden change in their diet. Laminitis and gassy colic is a major risk.

My two are only out for a few hours a day now. One has EMS and the other has had mild laminitis in the past so it’s far to risky with the sudden spike in sugar from the rain and rise in temperature. Tomorrow is looking torrential and next week temperatures are set to be above 11 degrees overnight so I’m expecting even more growth.

Despite all the recent rain mine isn't growing much yet. It was fully grazed down over winter though, I never turn out onto rested pasture in spring. I poo pick every day, and I'm currently only getting 1.5 wheelbarrows worth a day off my 3 who are still out 23/7, it's nearer 3 loads a day in winter with strip grazing into foggage plus hay.

I will be putting my equicentral track up as soon as the grass does start growing. Maybe next week if it gets warmer?

My top hay field, which had sheep on it til Jan, has finally started growing, though it's well behind where it would normally be.
