My springer Archi has always eaten loads of nettles mainly, grass and the leaves off a tree type bushy thing in my garden since he was a pup, hes 4 now, dont seem to do it for reasons like upset stomach as he never throws up, he eats madly when on walks and comes across nettles, what are your experiences of similar habits thanks

Would agree he maybe lacking something in his diet. Having said that my cocker will raid my vegetable racks if he gets a chance - carrots are his favorite but will also steal parsnips, swede, cauliflower, apples, bananas, plums, pears and melon. At least eating green stuff is healthy!!

It is usually something lacking but saying that a had a mut that just loved eating swede, just loved to gnaw on then lol.

My puppy loves eating grass, but only like really green stuff! Hes on James Wellbeloved Complete junior diet (correct for his age, and correct amounts etc)

apparently, I got told its kind of normal for dogs to eat a bit of grass around this time of year!

Sorry to highjack the thread, but would people say that eating carrots is a sign something is missing in their diet? Popple is crazy for them and pinches them out of the horses' buckets

but tbh I think it's just cause they're yummy and so very crunchie - she likes ice cubes also

He gets complete chappie and any scraps, he is very food orientated, and is very greedy but back to the green thing he does eats nettles where i walk him at the o;d yard he ate loads on his walk at night not just a nibble he snatches mouthfuls of them, i know its not a springer thing as he is my 4th and the others didnt do it , he is a nutcase tho thanks for all for thoughts

hmm......
maybe think about changing the feed then? I dont know what complete chappy is like but the tinned stuff is minimalistic in terms of nutritional value........

Maybe he likes the tingly feeling of eating nettles
