Springer with very sore throat!!

My springer got a twig stuck down the back of his throat and when my husband pulled it out it had some blood on it. He is very subdued and quiet. There doesn't seem to be any swelling and he is breathing and drinking ok. Is there anything else I can do for him as he is obviously sore. If he doesn't perk up later I will get him to the vet.

I would take him to the vet sooner rather than later, he could have a splinter stuck in the back of his throat.
