Last week my instructor asked me to get some spurs (ones with the black ball thing on the end) - probably something to do with the fact i insist on riding the lazy, cobby type (Murphy-love him!).

Anyway, i've never ridden with spurs so just so i'm prepared, could anyone give me any tips/pointers?

I have just started riding with spurs and got the Impulse ones to start with - they have the ball on the end so they roll along the skin rather than "stabbing". I used them for the first time in a lesson and instructor just told me to try and keep my heel away when not using

I have now moved onto "normal" spurs as my lazy cob needs a good couple of nuges to get him going then I can start to leave him along and just remind him now and again

Try to forget you are wearing them otherwise you can end up with a very funny postion!!

It is nice to not be total worn out at end of lesson!!!!
